LumiPocket, the improved version of the 3D pocket printer Almost a year ago, I introduced the LumiFold, a foldable and portable 3D SLA printer developed in a garage. Following the success of its Indiegogo campaign, its Italian creator Davide Marin founded the start-up Lumi Industries. The result is a new and improved version of this 3D pocket printer called LumiPocket, which is intended to be more accurate and easier with a higher printing volume and a modern design. Video presentation of the LumiPocketThe technical characteristicsTechnology:

Almost all DLP projectors over 2000 lumen and with a minimum resolution of 1024 x 768 can be used without modification. However, it is recommended to have at least 2500+ lumen and a resolution of 720p. For jewellery and other small objects with very fine details, Full HD is more recommended... List of projectors tested and approved by Lumi Industries: Optoma dx325, Acer x1260, Acer x1240, Acer 6510bd, Acer P1283, Acer P1500...
PerformanceIn terms of performance the printing volume of 785 cm3 (10 cm diameter by 10 cm high) requires only about 10 hours to be filled, whatever the complexity of the object printed in 100 micron layers. This is a far cry from the "slowness" of FDM 3D printers. 100 micron printed objectsThe software that drives the Lumi has also been redesigned, offering a much simpler and more intuitive Leap Motion compatible interface.
Simply upload a STL file or upload one online using the integrated search engine. Everything else (object cutting, etc.) is automatic. like many online 3D object databases, the software has many customizable models. For example, it is possible to convert any text into Braille language that can be printed in 3D on solid pages.
In terms of price, the first price is $379 for a kit to assemble. The mounted version is $399. Price to which must be added that of a projector that is more difficult to transport, as the picoprojectors are unfortunately not yet bright enough, so for those who are interested, visit the Indiegogo participatory fundraising campaign.
